Anja Lok is a psychiatrist, researcher, and conceptual artist working at the intersection of art and science at Amsterdam UMC and the University of Amsterdam. In her work, she focuses on mood disorders in adolescents and young adults, exploring how body, brain, and environment interact to shape mental health. She is particularly interested in phenomena that elude classical psychiatric frameworks such as anhedonia, embodied experience, and the role of the microbiome and seeks new ways of understanding and treating these conditions, in which art and imagination also have a place.
